Rest in peace, Master Rapper

Today is a sad day for the Philippine music industry. The King of Pinoy Rap, Francis “Kiko” Magalona has passed away today at around 12 noon (March 6). He was 44 years old. The sad news was announced by his friend, Vic Sotto in Eat Bulaga where a moment of silence from the viewers was observed in honor of Francis.
As most of you probably know, Francis was diagnosed with AML or Acute Myelogenous Leukemia with Mixed Lineage back in August of 2008. After that, he sought treatment at Medical City Hospital in Mandaluyong and underwent chemotherapy. Francis shared the details of his ordeal and requested for prayers from everyone in his blog, A Free Mind. He is survived by his wife, Pia and their eight children: Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Elmo, Arkin, Clara, and actresses Maxene and Saab.
Also known as FrancisM, Master Rapper, and The Man From Manila, Francis is credited as the first Filipino rapper to successfully crossover to the mainstream through his nationalistic hit “Mga Kababayan” (My Countrymen). And aside from being a prominent rapper and song writer, he was also a producer, actor, TV host, VJ, director and photographer.
He is without a doubt the King of Pinoy Rap and his music will always serve as a reminder to all of us that we should not be ashamed of our color but be proud because we’re Pinoy. In his words, “Dapat lang malaman nyo, bilib ako sa kulay ko, ako ay Pilipino!” The Master Rapper has now gone home to be with his Master and Lord and he will be missed by all Filipinos. Rest in peace, Francis!

I don’t really know much about songs sung or composed by Francis M except for Kababayan Mo. However, as an artist, I like him and how he brought his songs to life with zest and/or passion. I also like his personality; a simple family man who loved having fun through music. I often watched him in the noontime show Eat Bulaga and noticed how he had remained so young -looking, like he didn’t have any worries at all. It was really a shock to learn of his illness – one so young and so full of life and promise. And now his death that though it came as a surprise was however expected but still…. I will be among the thousands of fans who will miss him. May his soul have eternal rest.

perhaps im d last 2 write here,,but as d saying goes,last but not d least.was a bit busy,lamenting d old times when we used to play his songs.to “sir” francis magalona,salamat s pagbabahagi mo ng iyong talento s amin.mrmi s min ang npasaya mo.actually the late afternoon when they heard your passing,my family did hav a jam session playing your songs,gee i ought to cry for missing them and not joining them,,that includes my mother,father and my brothers and my sister and some of our neighbors.i was away.i noticed and admired his attitude and everything..he’s one of a kind cool guy as seen on his hosting on the noontime show..but again as they say, nothing lasts forever,but for the moment as long as we’re here, you’ll be here.

I was not a big fan of Francis M but I really admired his looks and talents. He may have passed away at a young age but he achieved and accomplished so much. He lived a full life. He will really be missed.

eversince applied for n internet connection last year , I had already grab the opportunity to surf on the blogs of francis because during that time my brother was also got ill ang he is also in the semi concious condition and confined in the ICU. I got inspired on how francis ang his family handle their situation that time and I am also inspired on the faith they had to our Lord Jesus Christ that is why I also commit all that was happened to my family to God because of what they had done. they teach the people to be strong and have faith in God that is why many sufferers inspired on how they accept trials. so for francis and pia, I am inspired on how you handle things. you really a good model to us

i would like to extend my warmest condolence for the family of frances m.ang he may rest in peace…he is a great pinoy performer…and he is one of my idle coz hindi nya ikinahihiya being a pinoy,sa ibang bansa tulad dito sa italy sikat ang pinoy dahil sa kami ay mapagkatiwalaan ng mga amo.
Very, unfortunate and also untime. I sincerely believe that he could be saved. I sent mails to him to plese try for Ayurveda treatment, which was a sure remedy to save the life, quality life. Pls remember, there may be better options to get recovered from difficult diseases once modern science is failing. Unfortunately people continue choosing proven failing remedies even after seeing practically most of the patients are dieing out of such options.
