A Spotless Weekend
So how was your weekend? Eventful? Enjoyable? Entertaining? Mine was certainly busy. Saturdays for me usually means household chores. It’s that one day of the week where my wife and I would spend considerable time to clean the house. Of course, there are things you clean daily and there are some done weekly, those that are cleaned every week for us takes place on a Saturday. It’s not new to me since I’ve been doing that since I was a kid. My parents would always involve us in household chore and Saturdays would mean cleaning the house. How about you, what are your thoughts when it comes to cleaning house?
Bargainchaser asked the community once how we clean our houses, one room at a time or does the family do it all at once? Anne shared her strategy of what she cleans first and what she cleans daily and weekly. Elizabeth on the other hand asked what part of your house requires the most cleaning. Skybluecarp answered that technically all of it, but mostly it’s the lounge, the bedroom and the kitchen. I agree that the kitchen indeed needs a lot of cleaning because a lot of activity takes place there, but for me the bathroom is that part of the house that requires cleaning the most. I’m sure cutie would agree with me because she asked the community before for help regarding what cleaning product is good for colored bathroom tiles, sink and bowl. Good thing Pat S filled her in on what works for her – baking soda. She explained how baking soda is a great, non-scratch cleanser and how to use it as a cleanser.
Of course, house cleaning is a good thing but not exactly an enjoyable thing. Sparkle asks what household chore do we hate doing most and why. Hi gave the best answer and for her it’s bathrooms (she hates putting her head near the bowl). Same for me, although that’s one of my responsibilities which I’m now starting to get used to and be good at (just ask my wife, hehehe). If we all have one chore we hate doing, imagine how this is for kids. I said my Saturdays as a kid meant helping to clean the house, but that doesn’t mean I would prefer it over watching Saturday Fun Machine cartoons. That’s why Beng asked the community on how to make kids help in household chores and Sam answered her by coming up with some kind of punishment if they don’t obey. Or maybe the opposite will work as well, try coming up with an incentive program to get them involved.
Different styles, different ways but however you wish to do it, the important thing is house cleaning has to be done. As they say, it’s a dirty job but somebody has to do it. It’s really up to us to make cleaning an enjoyable, interesting and amusing activity. We have to because it’s something that we will keep on doing every weekend.
